BEE POLLEN IN OUR DIET
Pollen is the means by which the male genetic material of plants is transferred from the males (stamens) to the female reproductive organs of the plants (pistil).
About 4 million grains of pollen are collected in each flight of a bee.
With a specific technique, the beekeeper can collect pollen from his hives and prepare it for human consumption.
In order to fulfill this purpose, the following actions are carried out in our apiary: collection of spring and autumn pollen, disinfection, cleaning, drying and then keeping it refrigerated < 4°C for one year.
Pollen is rich in proteins, carbohydrates, fats, mineral components, terpenes, carotenoids, flavonoids and other components which are necessary for nutrition, growth, egg-laying, gland function and other basic needs of bees.
Similarly, pollen is a useful food in the human diet due to its high content of proteins, essential amino acids, vitamins, enzymes and other components of great biological value for the human body. It is reported that an amount of 35 grams of pollen per day satisfies the daily protein needs. The pollen has a high content of rutin, which increases the resistance of the capillaries, thus reducing the chances of strokes. It helps mental function, gives well-being, increases self-confidence, has a diuretic effect, improves appetite and metabolism and fights general weakness and weakening of the body. It has also been successfully used in the treatment of prostate diseases and has been found to be high in the amino acid cystine, which helps hair growth and the maintenance of natural hair color. Its systematic consumption can help fight seasonal allergies.
In any case of its consumption, we recommend the advice of the family doctor.
Thus pollen, honey and royal jelly all beehive products confirm the principle: that your food is your medicine.
